Kona Dance and Performing Arts, a non-profit arts organization in Kealakekua striving to provide high-quality education and instruction in dance and performing arts to the local youth and Big Island community, seeks dance teaching artists and accompanists for the 2016-2017 season. Kona Dance and Performing Arts is an organization that prides itself on the quality of teachers and staff, all of whom have trained and performed professionally both in the state of Hawai’i and across the world.
Dance Teaching Artist
A degree in childhood development or elementary education
A degree in performing arts, music education, musical theatre, or dance
Knowledge and experience teaching with Anne Green Gilbert’s Braindance (for teachers working with 3-6-year old age range)
Professional training in ballet, tap, jazz, and other genres of dance and performing arts
Extensive experience working with children
Extensive experience teaching children and teens
Prior dance studio or performing arts organization working experience
Degree or professional education in music theory, music education, or music performance
Experience working with children
Ability to sight-read, teach music, and vocal coach if necessary
Knowledge of the musical theater genre
Ability to accompany students while learning and acting a song
Ability to work with another teacher or choreographer to coach, support, and guide students through their musical theater training
Prior dance studio, performing arts organization, or music directing experience
Kona Dance and Performing Arts takes dance and performing arts education very seriously, and looks to hire teaching artists with passion for their craft and a deep desire to share that with others. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are required for this position.
Front Desk Administrator
Kona Dance & Performing Arts in Kealakekua, is looking for a friendly, organized individual to join its front desk staff. The Front Desk Administrator provides part-time administrative support to the daily operations of Kona Dance & Performing Arts. This includes front-line customer service and ensuring the front desk and lobby are properly maintained. An ideal applicant is an effective communicator, a good listener, is able to multi-task efficiently, has an approachable, outgoing demeanor and excellent customer service skills. Experience requirements include strong computer skills, the ability to work with Google Drive, studio software, place online orders, and an interest, background and a passion for the arts.
19 hours Afternoon, Evening, Weekend required - $15.00 per hour.
