Jeanne Kapela

Jeanné Kapela was born and raised in Captain Cook and began her dance training with West Hawaii Dance Theatre under the Direction of Virginia Holte. She studied ballet, jazz, lyrical, hip-hop, and hula, maintaining a focus on classical ballet. Jeanné advanced her studies on Oahu with Ballet Hawaii and went on to dance under scholarship with the Boston Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, and the American Ballet Theatre. She is a former University of Hawaii Rainbow Warrior Dancer and finalist for the New York Jets Cheer Team. In 2015, Jeanné captured the Miss Hawaii crown and went on to represent our state at Miss America, where she brought home the title of Miss Congeniality. Happy to return to her hometown in Kealakekua; Jeanné now serves as the Artistic Director of the Miss Kona Coffee Scholarship Competition. She is grateful to be a member of the Kona Dance and Performing Arts Staff and looks forward to enhancing the lives of our South Kona youth through dance and the value of performing arts.
