COVID-19 HEALTH & SAFETY GUIDELINES

Kona Dance & Performing Arts is committed to the health and safety of our entire organization including staff, teachers, students, and families. The following was created  with guidance of  Hawaii County DOE policy and guidance from the Hawaii County Department of Health. As we continue to move through the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, changes and updates may be made at any time to comply with updated county guidelines. Please take the time to thoroughly read through these guidelines to familiarize yourself with our new procedures. Mahalo!

HEALTH SCREENING

 

  1. Students and staff who test positive for COVID-19 or who have COVID-19 symptoms should isolate for 5 days, regardless of vaccination status. 

Students and staff can return to studio:

   On Day 6, if positive test and NO symptoms.

  •   Must wear a well-fitted mask around others indoors from day 6 to day 10 after completing home isolation

 

  On Day 6, if positive test and SYMPTOMS

  •  24 hours with no fever (and no fever-reducing medications) and 

  • Symptoms are improving.

  •  Must wear a well-fitted mask around others indoors from day 6 to day 10 of illness after completing home isolation. If you have a fever or are not yet improving, remain in isolation until the above are true.

 

  1. Students and staff who are sick with symptoms of COVID-19* but do not yet have test results, regardless of vaccination status.

Students and staff can return to studio: After a negative test if:

  • 24 hours with no fever (and no fever-reducing medications) and

  • Symptoms are improving

 

  1. Students and staff who have been exposed to a person with COVID-19, regardless of vaccination status.  

Students and staff can return to studio: Immediately if NO symptoms. May consider wearing a well-fitted mask indoors for 10 full days and watch for symptoms. 

  •  If symptom start, isolate immediately. 

  • Test and stay home until you know the result. If positive, follow isolation protocol.  

  • Test on Day 6 even if no symptoms. 

  • If positive, follow isolation protocol. 

  •  If negative, continue to wear a mask indoors through day 10. 

  •  COVID-19 can develop up to 10 days after exposure.  



 

COVID-19 EXPOSURE

In the event of a possible COVID-19 exposure, we will assess the level of risk using current health guidelines and shall follow any protocols set forth by the Department of Health.

 

MASKS

Mask wearing within the studio and during class is encouraged, to each family's discretion. but remains optional for students, staff and families at their discretion.

 

SOCIAL DISTANCING 

Social distancing practices are encouraged wherever and whenever applicable.  

 

SANITATION & CLEANING 

All individuals are encouraged to use hand sanitizer upon entry. Multiple stations with hand sanitizer are placed throughout the premises for everyone to use but we welcome bringing your own as well. 

 

WAITING AREAS

Will be open to caregivers and students as needed. Mask wearing and social distancing is encouraged in this area, to each family’s discretion. 

 

WATER

The water station will no longer be available for use. All individuals are expected to come to class with their own filled water bottles labeled with first and last name. Please be sure to provide more than enough water for students with multiple classes in a day. In the event that students do not come prepared with their own water, bottled water will be provided and charged to the family’s account. Students shall bring their water bottles with them into class and not be left with their personal belongings.
